Welcome to Aldergrove
Aldergrove PS opened it’s doors in 1987. We have had a proud legacy of passionate educators, community engagement and outstanding students who continue to visit and share with us the impact of their learning of “the Grove” on their lives.
We currently have a learning community of approximately 650 students and 60 staff members. Ours is a richly diverse, multi-lingual learning community. Over 72 percent of our students speak additional languages. We are proud of our diversity and know that this can uniquely position our students to succeed in a rapidly shrinking global village. These are assets that will assist our students to successfully position Canada in the global landscape. This is one feature of learning at the Grove.
As educators, we are visitors on the landscape of our school community. As such, we understand that the success of our students is based on a strong and healthy partnership between school, student and home. We want our school to be both a hub and a site for community development. We continue to nurture this through ongoing partnerships with our families, school council and community agencies/partners.
Our School Mission
The Mission of the York Region District School Board is to advance student achievement and well-being through public education, which motivates learners, fosters inclusion, inspires innovation and builds community.
In order to support the Board's mission, we work to create an environment at Aldergrove which invites the community into our shared space of learning, ignites learning of self, community and the world; and inspires leadership among students, staff and community members.
In order to engage all of our students and make our school a place where we create dynamic, literate and compassionate world citizens we have 7 key values. Our 7 values have been inspired by the First Nations teachings of the 7 grandfathers whose ancestors welcomed the world to Ontario and Canada.
Our 7 values are Optimism, Innovation, Relationships, Self-Awareness, Inclusivity, Empathy and Citizenship.
We hope to see this demonstrated in our students on a daily basis and believe that these 7 values are critical components that will help them navigate the world which they will inherit.
The values are represented in the following "I" statements which will be shared with students during their time at Aldergrove PS.
