Message from Admin

Dear Aldergrove Families,
As we wrap up this week—and this year—we pause to reflect on the joy and togetherness that filled our school. From the cheerful Primary Sing-Along to the energy of the Intermediate Dance, and the cozy fun of Pajama Day, these celebrations reminded us of the power of community and the importance of creating moments that bring us closer together.

This season is not only about looking back with gratitude but also looking forward with hope. Each ending opens the door to a new beginning, and we are excited for what the new year will bring! In January, we’ll continue to focus on learning, growth, and connection, with more opportunities for students to shine and thrive. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming events and initiatives that will make 2026 a year of curiosity, creativity, and success.

Learning Commons Updates!

This week in Learning Commons, Ms. Chiu’s class joined us for makerspace learning about the human body. Projects included:

-making a heart model using fluid dynamics

-a nervous system model with lights to show electrical impulse movement from the brain down the spinal cord

-a jointed leg and an arm

-a digestive system maze to show how food travels through it

Ms. Liu, Ms. Vinluan, Mr. Marshall and Mrs. Gilbert’s class all engaged in learning along with the YMCA during Gambling and Addiction workshops.  Ms. Liu and Ms. Vinluan’s class engaged in discussions about the increase in exposure to gambling and the bias displaying gambling as risk free and reward based.  They learned some media safety tips like limiting screen time, sharing of personal information, as well as mental health concerns that can arise from gambling addictions.

Mr. Marshall and Mrs. Gilbert’s class engaged in learning about currency in gaming and how it can affect addiction to playing and getting credit for in-game items. It also examined the differences between online game currency and actual financial currency and how some games often ask for actual money to complete transactions or upgrades in game. They discussed how game based rewards are portrayed as skill based instead of change based activity providing a false sense of success. They also discussed the negative impacts of long term gaming involvement on overall health.
