Dear Aldergrove Families,
It was a fantastic week at Aldergrove, with the weather fully cooperating and allowing us to enjoy all the activities we had planned. Our school community was energized with opportunities for students to shine, connect, and celebrate together.
Track and Field Events
Our Junior and Intermediate students demonstrated incredible effort, sportsmanship, and determination as they participated in our school Track and Field events. It was wonderful to see students challenge themselves and support one another. We are proud to share that a large contingent of our athletes will move on to compete at the Area Meet on June 15 and 16. We wish them all the best as they continue to represent Aldergrove with pride!
Aldergrove Plays - Family Event
We were thrilled to host our end-of-year family event, Aldergrove Plays, and what an incredible evening it was! Families came together to enjoy a wide variety of activities, including badminton, table tennis, pickleball, face painting, planting seeds, arts and crafts, and, of course, delicious food and ice cream.
This event truly reflected the strength and spirit of our community. It was heartwarming to see so many families, students, and staff connecting, laughing, and spending time together. Events like this remind us how important community is to the success and well-being of our school. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening so special. Special thanks to our School Council who were instrumental in the planning and execution of this event.
Final Fire Drill
This week, we also completed our final fire drill of the school year. Our students did an excellent job demonstrating focus, responsibility, and cooperation. Practicing these procedures is an essential part of maintaining a safe school environment. Regular drills ensure that students and staff are prepared and able to respond calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency. We are proud of how seriously our students take these important routines.

We have many exciting events coming up as we continue through June:
- June 9 – Grade 8 Grad. Trip to Wonderland
- June 11 – Grade 3 Trip to Pioneer Village
- June 12 – Primary Play Day
- June 15 & 16 – Area Track and Field Meet
- June 17 – Regional Track and Field Meet
As we move further into June, we look forward to more opportunities to celebrate student achievement, build connections, and create lasting memories together. Thank you for your ongoing support in making Aldergrove such a vibrant and caring community.

Kindergarten Registration is open.
Is your child turning 4 or 5 in 2026? Or do you know someone who is?
Mark your calendars and follow these simple steps.
1. Find your home school.
Use our school finder to find your home school - the school in your neighbourhood.
2 .Register for Kindergarten.
You can register online, in person, or by phone or email.
Visit www.yrdsb.ca/kindergarten to access the online registration portal or download the registration form. Once you have completed your application, the school will contact you to make an appointment to review and verify the required documents.
3. Register early for Before and After Care
All schools offer before and after-care programs. Check your school’s website or our before and after care directory for details. Contact providers early to secure your spot.
4. Explore and Prepare for Kindergarten
Kindergarten is where big dreams start small. Learn how Kindergarten helps children develop the academic and social skills they need to thrive in Grade 1 and beyond. Our skilled and caring teams of certified teachers and early childhood educators work together to support every child in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Notice of Early Dismissal
All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being. On Thursday, June 25, 2026, an early release day will take place to allow elementary staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day. These meetings will allow school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan, as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.
As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school on the morning of Thursday, June 25, 2026, only. Students will be dismissed early that day at 12:00 pm. Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time. Families whose children attend after-school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.
