Our first days back at Aldergrove have been exciting as we return to class and the school environment. Scholars have enjoyed meeting with peers and making new friends in the classroom setting. We have seen many smiles as scholars engage in creative activities designed to foster mattering and belonging. Our goal is that each of our scholars feels welcomed and included, and all their identities are embraced and affirmed so that they can strive to succeed.
Last week, each scholar participated in our Safe and Caring Schools assembly. This assembly highlighted the expectations for school behaviour. Scholars were challenged to consider their role in creating a safe community and how they can share their voice within this community. We are working to foster belonging in the Aldergrove community.
Scholars can look forward to participating in the Terry Fox Walk on Friday, September 19, 2025. They are asked to contribute to this event by bringing “Toonies for Terry”. All money raised will go directly to the Terry Fox Foundation.
Your partnership is important. We welcome collaboration and building relationships with the community. Please attend the first School Council meeting of the year on September 18th, 2025 from 6:30-8:00pm where elections for the year ahead will occur. For further information, please scroll down to page 9-10. We also look forward to seeing you on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at our Meet the Family Night.
In appreciation of your continued partnership in supporting all of our scholars,
Mr. Louca Mr. Pamayah
Principal Vice Principal
Important Safety Announcement
As part of our commitment to student safety and well-being, we have been examining our bus loop/kiss-and-ride pick-up routines. As such, and in the interest of student safety, we will be making the bus loop area at the end of the day, a car-free zone. This will remove the danger of having moving vehicles in the vicinity of students in this area. Please see below for more details.
Beginning Monday, September 15th:
- The bus loop/kiss-and-ride area will be closed to all cars at the end of the school day
- No cars will be allowed to enter or park in this area
- Any cars that are parked there will be asked to leave
- No cars will be allowed to enter the parking lot area
Please plan ahead and utilize street parking if you must pick-up students in a vehicle. We strongly encourage families to consider alternative methods, such as walking when picking up students from school. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we strive to keep our students safe.

Message From Our Trustee
September 2025
Welcome back to school to all of our new and returning students and families. This is an exciting time, filled with new beginnings and new opportunities for learning, growth and connection. We look forward to another great school year together.
As a school board trustee, I have the privilege of representing our community. Trustees play an important role in shaping the direction of public education in York Region by setting the budget and policies, establishing priorities through our Multi-Year Strategic Plan and communicating with families. I look forward to connecting with many of you at school and Board events over the coming months and encourage you to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. I will also continue to share important updates through these quarterly messages.
I also encourage you to stay connected with your child’s school. Your voice matters and we truly value the important partnership we share with families. In addition to school communications, you can stay connected by following the school board on social media, visiting our newsroom, listening to our Board podcast and exploring the Board website and refreshed school websites for information and updates.
We recognize this is a time of transition - whether your child is starting a new school, taking the school bus for the first time, or getting to know a new teacher, these early weeks can bring excitement and questions. Our caring and dedicated staff are here to support students and families every step of the way. We also understand that some students may be requesting timetable changes, and transportation services may still be finalizing routes. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time, and want to assure you that we are working to support a smooth start for all.
We remain committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive public education that supports the success and well-being of every student. Our Multi-Year Strategic Plan guides our work and reflects our priorities: student achievement, mental health and well-being, human rights and inclusive education.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in education. I wish your family a wonderful start to the school year.
Jenny Chen, Trustee, Markham Wards 1 and 8
