Dear Families,

It has been another busy and productive week at Aldergrove, and our focus continues to be on fostering a strong sense of belonging and ensuring that every member of our school community feels valued, respected, and included.

Throughout the week, we have been talking with students about how small actions can have a big impact on our school culture. Simple gestures such as holding the door open for someone, saying good morning, offering a smile, or expressing gratitude with a simple thank you are powerful ways to help others feel welcome and connected. These everyday acts of kindness may seem small, but together they help create the caring and inclusive community we strive to build at Aldergrove.

This week, we also recognized the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Through age-appropriate learning opportunities, students reflected on the importance of truth, understanding, and respect as we continue the journey toward reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. As a school, we proudly displayed our Every Child Matters flag and many students and staff wore orange shirts to honour children who attended residential schools and those whose lives continue to be impacted by that history.

The message that "Every Child Matters" connects deeply to our focus on belonging. At Aldergrove, we believe that every child deserves to feel seen, heard, valued, and respected. By learning about the past and listening to the stories and experiences of others, we help build a more inclusive community where everyone has a place and every voice matters.

Unfortunately, due to weather concerns, we needed to postpone our Terry Fox Run. The event will now take place on Friday, October 9th. We look forward to coming together as a school community to honour Terry Fox's legacy of perseverance, courage, and hope while working toward our fundraising goal.

Parking Lot Reminder

As a reminder, the school parking lot remains closed to parent and guardian vehicles during student dismissal.

Families are expected to park off school property and walk in to meet their child. This procedure is in place to help ensure student safety during one of the busiest times of the day. We appreciate your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a safe environment for all students, staff, and families.

Upcoming Dates
