Dear Families,
This week, we would like to begin by recognizing World Teachers' Day, celebrated on October 5th. This important day provides an opportunity to acknowledge the incredible impact that teachers have on the lives of students each and every day. At Aldergrove, we are fortunate to have a dedicated, caring, and passionate teaching staff who work tirelessly to create engaging learning experiences, foster a sense of belonging, and support the academic and social-emotional growth of every student. We are grateful for their commitment to our school community and thank them for all that they do.
Terry Fox Run
On Friday, our students and staff came together for our annual Terry Fox Run. It was wonderful to see our school community united in support of such an important Canadian cause. Terry Fox's story continues to inspire generations through his courage, determination, and selfless commitment to raising awareness and funds for cancer research.
Events like the Terry Fox Run remind us that when a community works together, small individual contributions can make a significant impact. We are proud of our students for demonstrating enthusiasm, perseverance, and community spirit as they participated in this meaningful event. Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts and helped honour Terry's legacy.
STEM Learning with the Ontario Science Centre
This week, we were excited to welcome staff from the Ontario Science Centre to Aldergrove to facilitate hands-on STEM workshops for our students. These engaging learning experiences encouraged students to think critically, solve problems, make predictions, and explore scientific and mathematical concepts in interactive ways.
We are pleased to share that this is just the beginning. Ontario Science Centre educators will be working with our students over the coming weeks, providing additional opportunities to deepen their understanding of Science and Mathematics while inspiring curiosity, creativity, and innovation.
Safety First
Student safety continues to be our highest priority. This week, we conducted several important emergency drills as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and prepared school environment.
Practicing emergency procedures helps ensure that students and staff know how to respond calmly and effectively in a variety of situations. While we hope these procedures are never needed beyond practice, being prepared is an important responsibility that helps keep everyone safe. We are proud of our students for taking these drills seriously and demonstrating responsibility throughout each exercise.
Looking Ahead: Thanksgiving Weekend
A reminder that Monday is Thanksgiving Day and there will be no school for students.
For those families who celebrate, we would like to wish you a joyful and restful Thanksgiving. We hope the long weekend provides an opportunity to spend time with family and friends, reflect on the things for which we are grateful, and enjoy some well-deserved time together.
We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday.
Photo Day – Tuesday, October 13
Get those smiles ready! Photo Day will take place on Tuesday, October 13th. Students will have their individual school photos taken throughout the day. These photos help capture an important moment in your child's school journey and often become treasured keepsakes for years to come.
Complete Your Forms for a Chance to Win!
Have you completed your child's Back-to-School Forms yet?
Families who submit all required forms by Wednesday, October 14th will be entered into a draw to win a Pizza Party for their child's class!
Not only do these forms provide the school with important information that helps us support your child, but completing them also gives your class a chance to enjoy a fun celebration together.
Don't miss out. A few minutes of paperwork could mean a pizza lunch for an entire class!
Warm regards,

Gratitude and Community
Quote of the Week
"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it."
– William Arthur Ward
This quote reminds us that taking time to thank and appreciate those around us helps strengthen our community and reinforces the sense of belonging we strive to build at Aldergrove every day.
