September 18, 2026: Weekly School Newsletter

Dear Families,

This week was another wonderful week at Aldergrove as students continued to settle into their classrooms and truly began to exemplify the character traits and expectations that make our school community such a special place. We are seeing students demonstrate kindness, responsibility, respect, and a strong sense of belonging as they build relationships and engage in learning across the school.

One highlight of the week was our first fire drill of the year. We are proud to share that the entire school did an excellent job exiting the building quickly, quietly, and safely before gathering on the back field. Our students demonstrated maturity and responsibility throughout the process.

Safety is always our top priority at Aldergrove, and maintaining a safe learning environment is a shared responsibility among staff, students, and families. As part of this commitment, the week of October 5th will be Safety Week. Throughout the week, students and staff will rehearse several types of emergency procedures so that we are prepared to respond effectively in a variety of situations. While we hope these situations never occur, practicing together helps ensure everyone feels confident and prepared.

We would also like to thank parents and guardians for their cooperation in helping keep our school grounds safe. We greatly appreciate those who dismount their e-bikes and e-scooters when they reach school property. Your support helps create a safer environment for all students, staff, and visitors, particularly during our busy arrival and dismissal times.

We are also excited to remind families that our first School Council Meeting of the year will take place on Thursday, September 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library. School Council plays an important role in supporting our school community, and all parents and guardians are welcome to attend. Whether you are interested in becoming more involved or simply learning more about what is happening at Aldergrove, we would love to see you there.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are building a school community where every student can learn, grow, and thrive.

Warm regards,

Mr. Louca                        Ms. Yadollahi

Library Update
Dear Aldergrove Community,

Thank you for your continued support with our Library and Makerspace programs this year!!!

Book exchanges have happened for every class in the school. If you would like to know your child's exchange day, please contact your homeroom teacher.  Your child may take two books at a time, and sometimes three. They are responsible for returning their books on time, or a fine for a portion of the book will be charged to replace the book.

We look forward to another Book Fair coming in November. With that announcement, I want to thank you for your support of our spring Bookfair. With the money raised I was able to purchase another doggie robot called Pyxel Pet, games and manipulatives, and over 100 GREAT books to add to our collection.
